This 'Jaws' Analogy Did Not End Well For Mike Huckabee

by www.huffingtonpost.com

Say what you will about former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), but the man sticks to an analogy once he gets going on one.

And during an appearance on the “The Kelly File” with Megyn Kelly on Monday, Huckabee wanted to get going on comparing the 1975 classic film “Jaws” and the 2016 presidential election. He apparently sees Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as Captain Quint, the film’s aggressive shark hunter. And Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, on the other hand? Well, she’s the bad shark.

And they wonder why Hollywood hates them pic.twitter.com/7YJxixbzVf

“[Trump’s] vulgar. He’s salty. He might even get drunk. ... [But] he’s the guy who’s going to save your butt and save your family. And so, at the end of the day, when he kills the shark, you’re happy about it,” Huckabee said.

“Now, Hillary is the shark. She’s going to eat your boat. She’s going to have open borders, immigration out the kazoo,” he continued (although let’s pause for a moment to ask, “The... what now?”). “And so, the choice is do you vote for Captain Quint, who’s going to save your family, or do you vote for the shark? That’s the choice you get to make.”

After a short pause, Kelly interjected. “Now, governor,” she said, “I hate to be the one to tell you this ...”

A small, nervous smile appeared on Huckabee’s face. “You’re going to ...” he said, knowing full well what she was about to say.

Then, Kelly let it out: “Captain Quint got eaten by the shark.”

“But he died saving the other people! That’s what he did,” Huckabee responded.

“Yeah, but he died and went down in flames and the shark won,” Kelly clarified.

“The shark didn’t win. The shark got blown up. Look, any analogy can fall apart, Megyn,” Huckabee concluded.

It certainly can, Mike, as even the star of “Jaws” will tell you:

Quint did not kill Jaws. https://t.co/jSSRmGE9hD

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
