Michigan State says $10M fund to support those who spoke out against Dr. Larry Nassar

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State's trustees offered a vocal and financial vote of support for embattled university president Lou Anna Simon on Friday morning in a boardroom that was filled to capacity by several dozen protesters. The board announced the creation of a $10 million fund that will be used for counseling and mental health services as a way "to express our concern for and commitment to (the) brave young women" who spoke out against Dr. Larry Nassar, a former Michigan State employee and serial sexual abuser. Several trustees commended Simon for her leadership in handling the fallout from Nassar's case during the past year. The board also approved a $150,000 raise for Simon, which she requested be added to a scholarship fund she has started rather than her paycheck. Lisa Lorincz, the mother of 18-year-old Kaylee Lorincz, who says Nassar started abusing her several years ago, told the board of trustees that the timing of Simon's pay bump was "insulting." ...
