Cuanza Norte: 40 tons harvested fortnightly in Mucuso irrigated perimeter

Dondo - At least 40 tons of assorted crops are harvested quarterly in the irrigated perimeter of Mucoso, locality of Massangano, in northern Cuanza Norte province. ,

This is after the Mucoso irrigated perimeter received rehabilitation and modernisation works, under an Angolan Government’s investment of Akz 1.3 billion (Usd 1=Akz 166).

The information was released by Mucoso production officer, Feliciano Sandambongo, saying the harvest includes vegetables and citrus fruits and marks the start of exploitation following the investment made.

According to him, the farm has been supplying Luanda with such products as, watermelon, melon, tomato, pepper, aubergine and others.

He explained that the Mucoso irrigated perimeter covers 500 hectares split into 166 plots of three hectares each, 20 of which allotted to 20 farmers through a concession agreement.
